At its Tuesday night meeting, the Ohio University Graduate Student Senate will vote on eight resolutions and view presentations from the Career and Leadership Center as well as the Graduate Employee Organization.
One of those resolutions requires OU to offer meal plans better suited for graduate students with appointments. Most graduate students live off-campus, yet the meal plan for off-campus students is the most expensive option available and offers "very little flexibility," according to the resolution.
Currently, the meal plans offered for faculty and staff members have a minimum of $6.60 per meal and the off-campus meal plans have a minimum of $8.43 per meal. That resolution also requires the university to offer a year-long meal plan for graduate students at a minimum of $6.60 per meal.
Another resolution would support the Ohio House Bill 61. The statehouse bill would remove the luxury tax on feminine hygiene products.
“The current taxation of feminine products is unconstitutional under The Equal Protection Clause as stated in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution,” the resolution reads.
According to the resolution, OU Student Senate unanimously passed a similar bill.
The body will also discuss changes to its Rules & Procedures.
