At the beginning of the season, coach Bob Boldon was concerned.
The Bobcats weren’t where they needed to be on the defensive end and they were struggling to stop anyone. Boldon went as far to say the Bobcats had never been as bad defensively than they were to start the season.
But through four games, the defense has been good. It’s giving up just 56.0 points per game.
The problem now is the offense.
As a team, the Bobcats are shooting just 35.3 percent from the floor, which is 297th nationally. They’re shooting 24.6 percent from three-point range.
The Bobcats will look to get their offense back on track when they travel to play Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday night in Alumni Coliseum.
Three of the would-be best shooters on the team have struggled so far in the season — Taylor Agler is shooting just 35.1 percent, Amani Burke is at 32.6 percent and Katie Barker is shooting just 18.2 percent.
With Eastern Kentucky next on the schedule, the Bobcats will look to get out of the shooting rut. The Colonels gave up 77 points to Bowling Green in their season opener. Teams have found offensive success against them and Ohio will attempt to do the same.
But even with the shooting struggles, the Bobcats have found success. They’re 3-1 on the season and had an opportunity to upset No. 25 Michigan on Saturday in The Convo. Ohio lost 74-61.
Tip-off from Richmond, Kentucky, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
