Swim & Dive: Divers set personal bests in Buffalo

It was supposed to be an action-filled weekend for Ohio with the swimmers in Pittsburgh and the divers in Buffalo.

Only two members of the team ended up competing as the swimming tri-meet was canceled due to the snow preventing the teams from traveling.

Nicole Hughes and Ryleigh Tuck-Macalla dove in the Buffalo Diving Invite with both setting a personal best.

Hughes had the best finish of the day with a third-place in the one-meter dive. It was the best score of her career and saw a 24-point improvement from the preliminaries.

There was no final in the three-meter for Hughes, as she placed 13th with her third-best score of the season. It was close to a thirty-point improvement from the same meet last year for Hughes.

Despite placing 16th and not making the finals, Tuck-Macalla set a personal best in three-meter dive by 11 points. She added a 13th place finish in the one-meter continuing her trend of scoring in the 190s.

With the MAC Championships just over a month away Ohio was able to compare its performance along with the improvements needed to be done facing off against Bowling Green, Buffalo and Toledo.

The swimmers and divers will be competing in the same pool Jan. 20 against MAC favorite Akron in Akron before two home meets to wrap up the regular season.
