Erin Essak Kopp to lead the Ohio Alumni Association

Ohio University named the assistant vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the Ohio Alumni Association on Thursday.

Erin Essak Kopp will join the Ohio Alumni Association August 6 after 16 years of higher education experience in alumni relations, fundraising, marketing and community relations, according to an OU press release.

“We are so thrilled to welcome Erin as the newest member of the Bobcat family," OU President Duane Nellis said in a university press release. "Her position is critical to strategically reconnecting with our alumni base. I very much look forward to working with her, and all alumni, as we reach new levels of success in advancing our strategic pathways and priorities."

In her new position, Essak Kopp will work to provide strategic direction for alumni relations and promote engagement between OU and over 237,000 living alumni.

Essak Kopp is the senior director of alumni relations at the University of Oregon, where her duties include overseeing volunteer engagement, career networking, business development, equity and inclusion initiatives, reunion programs and regional and international engagement.

“Erin has an exciting and diverse background that combines expertise in alumni programming and community engagement with proven strategic planning, program development, and leadership skills,” Nico Karagosian, vice president for university advancement and president and CEO of The Ohio University Foundation, said in a university press release.

She has previously served as the director of alumni programs at Ohio State University and development associate at Hillel International in Washington, DC.

Essak Kopp is an Ohio State University alumna and Toledo native.

“I am honored and thrilled to join the Ohio University team,” Essak Kopp said in a university press release. “With its rich tradition of academic excellence, alumni passion, and community impact, Ohio University offers a strong foundation upon which to build meaningful engagement. I am excited to honor the past while exploring new ways to connect alumni to each other and to the University.”
