Google search results from July 12th lists Soulvaki’s Mediterranean Gardens as "Permanently closed." The restaurant is closed for the summer but will reopen when students return to campus.

Souvlaki's Mediterranean Gardens is not 'permanently closed' despite initial Google search results

After a week of confusion fueled by Twitter and Facebook, Soulvaki’s Mediterranean Gardens, 9 W. State St., confirmed on Facebook that it is not permanently closed.

The rumor began when Athens residents and Ohio University students discovered a Google search said the restaurant is permanently closed; however, it closes every summer and opens again when students return to Athens. The restaurant's status on Google has been updated to "closed."
