OU students mourn death of senior

Aaron Freund, a student at Ohio University, died Sunday.

Freund, 23, was a senior in the College of Business and a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

“I offer my deepest condolences to Aaron’s family and friends, and we will continue to reach out to provide any assistance that we can to help them through this difficult time,” Dean of Students Jenny Hall-Jones said in a statement from OU. “Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we grieve the loss of a fellow Bobcat.”

The university has been in contact with Freund's family and is offering support to anyone  affected by his death, University Spokeswoman Carly Leatherwood said. Counseling and Psychological Services, located on the third floor of Hudson Health Center, is offering counseling to OU students affected.

Calling hours will be held Saturday with a funeral to follow in Cincinnati. The Alpha Omega chapter at OU plans to hold a candlelight vigil in Freund’s honor Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Scripps Amphitheater.

In lieu of flowers, Freund’s family asked that donations be made to the Food Allergy Research and Education organization.
