Eight TV shows to watch this fall

The leaves are changing and so are people’s favorite fall TV programs. The start of fall TV is quickly approaching, and soon people will spend the first cold nights of the season in their living rooms or in front of a laptop. If you’re looking for shows to watch, here’s what you should consider: 

American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX)

The eighth season of Ryan Murphy’s insane horror show combines two previous seasons: Murder House and Coven. There have been small callbacks in other seasons of the show, but this will mark the first time the whole season will be a crossover. Murder House and Coven are fan-favorite seasons, so those who have wanted this should be very happy. 

Premiere date: Sept. 12


The First (Hulu)

Hulu’s original series have been getting a lot of recognition, especially since The Handmaid’s Tale hit the streaming service. With Academy Award winner Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River) in the lead role, this space show will get the attention of Hulu fans. The show is centered around trips to Mars with the goal to colonize the planet, which has been a hot topic in recent years

Premiere date: Sept. 14


Maniac (Netflix)

Bigger names in the film industry find themselves making deals with Netflix. Maniac is one of those shows that features two very present actors in film: Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. The 10 episode mini-series brings Stone’s and Hill’s characters to a pharmaceutical trial they hope will solve all their problems. It obviously doesn’t, and the comedy, sci-fi show has all the right components to shape up as a well-received series. 

Premiere date: Sept. 21


Riverdale (The CW)

The CW has a knack for adapting comic books into hit TV shows. Riverdale has been on TV since 2017, and the show is heading into its third season. If you find yourself not remembering the events of last season, or you didn’t have time to watch it live,•Netflix has all of seasons one and two.

Premiere date: Oct. 10


The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix)

Speaking of comic books and Netflix, the streaming company is adding more to its repertoire with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Gone are the Melissa Joan Hart days of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The Netflix series is a dark coming-of-age tale that follows Sabrina while she tackles evil forces. Mad Men alumna Kiernan Shipka will assume the role of the half-witch, half-mortal. 

Premiere date: Oct. 26


This Is Us (NBC)

Tissue sales are sure to go up with the season premiere of the NBC hit drama This Is Us. The series is gearing up for its third season. A new timeline was introduced in season two, so now there are three different plots in three different eras. The show continuously touches the heart’s of those who see it, so if you haven’t started watching, do that now. 

Premiere date: Sept. 25


A Million Little Things (ABC)

This Is Us has been such a hit ABC seems to be composing its own hit drama. The promo suggests this show is going be a tearjerker. When one person in a friend group suddenly dies, the rest of the people realize they need to be there for each other. Buy extra tissues and watch A Million Little Things and This Is Us.

Premiere date: Sept. 26


House of Cards (Netflix)

House of Cards season six will mark the first season since the departure of Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood. Robin Wright, who plays Claire Underwood, will assume the lead role. With all of the chaos surrounding the previous season, this will be the show’s final set of chapters. So if you have been a fan from the beginning, watch to find out how the show lives on with Wright at the forefront.
