IHOP sees successful business for first month

IHOP, 1006 East State St., has been serving Athens with success for over a month.

The restaurant opened on Dec. 27, 2018. Since then, business has been great, General Manager Robert Horner said.

The IHOP chain has locations across the country that are open 24 hours, all week. Currently, the Athens IHOP is open 24 hours on both Friday and Saturday. During the rest of the week, the location is open between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Those hours might expand in the future, Horner said.

“Based off business trends it could,” Horner said. “It could lead to that down the road.”

The most popular item on the menu is the restaurant’s namesake: pancakes. Beginning on Feb. 25, a new promotion will begin on some of IHOP’s specialty pancakes.

“The promotion is our Oreo pancakes,” Horner said. “So those will be priced at a limited time offer price, which will be reduced from our normal price.”

Customers who come in before the Oreo pancake promotion can use any valid IHOP coupons or stay alert for other limited time offers.

Some students haven’t made their way down to IHOP yet, but the restaurant is still generating buzz. Autumn Ramsey, a sophomore studying history, said that she hasn’t gone yet because she doesn’t have a car. She may, however, go in the future.

“I knew it was going up just because some people were talking about it,” Ramsey said. “But I haven’t been.”
