Ohio heard about its fate for the NCAA Tournament earlier than expected Monday when ESPN accidentally aired the bracket earlier in the afternoon than expected, hours before the selections were supposed to be released.
The Bobcats were not selected for the tournament, but that didn’t mean their season was over. Ohio accepted a bid for the WNIT and will play High Point on Thursday at The Convo.
The Bobcats will play in the WNIT for the third time in program history. Ohio last appeared in the tournament in 2017 and fell to Penn State in the first round, but it won its first WNIT game in 2016.
High Point (22-8, 15-3 Big South) was eliminated in the first round of its conference tournament despite its second place finish in the regular season. The Panthers are ranked No. 121 in RPI.
Tip-off time has not been announced at this time.
