Weekender Briefs: Head to 17Fest; see which drag queen will be crowned the first-ever Miss Uncorked

Friday

Spring Senior Dance Concert at 7 p.m. in the Shirley Wimmer Dance Theatre in Putnam Hall. Come see senior dance majors perform their capstone projects. There will be a second show at 9 p.m. Friday, and the dancers will also perform a matinee show Saturday at 1 p.m.

Admission: Free with OU ID; $8 general admission

First Annual Miss Uncorked Pageant at 8 p.m. at Athens Uncorked, 14 Station St. With a theme of “Dream in Colors,” attend a drag show during which one of the featured drag queens will be crowned Miss Uncorked. 

Admission: $6 general admission; $15 VIP

Romeo and Juliet at 8 p.m. in the Forum Theater in the Radio Television Building. See a William Shakespeare classic performed by students in the School of Theater. This show will be performed at the same time Saturday.

Admission: Free with OU ID; $10 for adults and $7 for other students/seniors

The Wubbening: Thelonious Mung, DJ Hex and Jibbz at 8 p.m. at Smiling Skull Saloon, 108 W. Union St. Enjoy an evening listening and dancing along to three Ohio artists.

Admission: $3

Saturday

Kidfest 2019 at 10 a.m. at Walter Fieldhouse. Bring your family to participate in games and activities while learning about services and resources available to Athens County residents. This event is hosted by Athens County Children’s Services. 

Admission: $3; kids 2 and under are free

Ceramic Community Studios: Pea Pod Pinch Pot Bowls at 1 p.m. at The Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Lane. Make an adorable pea pod keepsake and show off your crafting skills. 

Admission: $5-7

Number Fest at 1 p.m. at The Venue of Athens, 8003 State Route 56. Attend the nation’s biggest college party, which will feature performances by DJ Pauly D, Rich the Kid, and headliner Rae Sremmurd. The event is BYOB,  and tickets and parking passes are available online

Admission: $43.75 general admission; $90 VIP; $250 for Ultra VIP

Zack Fletcher at 7 p.m. at Little Fish Brewing Company, 8675 Armitage Road. Listen to Bowling Green native Zack Fletcher perform captivating, emotional music. When Fletcher isn’t performing solo, he’s also a member of folk rock band Moths in the Attic. 

Admission: Free

Freekbass with Hellnaw at 10 p.m. at Casa Nueva, 6 W. State St.  Spend your Saturday night jamming out with your friends to these two Ohio bands. 

Admission: $8 in advance; $10 at the door

Sunday

Family Art Encounters Open Studio at 2 p.m. at Kennedy Museum of Art. Enjoy a family-oriented crafting session designed for artists of all ages and skill levels.

Admission: Free

Little Fish Trivia Night at 5 p.m. at Little Fish Brewing Company. Gather up a group of friends and compete to win beer vouchers for each member of your team by applying your trivia skills.

Admission: Free
