Athens Football: Bulldogs aim for first win of 2019 against Parkersburg

After a disappointing loss to Jackson last week at home, the Bulldogs will hit the road to face another familiar non-conference opponent.

Athens (0-2) will make the short trip to West Virginia where it’ll face the Parkersburg South Patriots (2-0).

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

News and notes:

-  The Bulldogs beat the Patriots 26-16 in 2018 at R. Basil Rutter Field. Both teams entered that game 1-1. 

- Parkersburg South finished the 2018 season with a 7-4 record. It lost to Hedgesville in the opening round of the playoffs.

- The Patriots have a high scoring offense. They have averaged 48.5 through their first two games.

- Athens has not started a season with three losses since 2010. That team finished the season with a 5-5 record.

- The Bulldogs defense gave up 376 yards offense last week against Jackson, while their offense put together 335 yards.
