Today is Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

Hurricane Dorian, the Category 3 storm, has left the Bahamas in ruins and is expected to impact Georgia and the Carolinas sometime today. The storm, with sustained winds of 105 mph, will bring a triple threat of destructive winds, flooding rains and life-threatening storm surges to the shores of the East Coast.

Although the storm defied most of the early forecast models and did not affect Florida as much as initially anticipated, it leaves the residents living on the Carolina, Georgia and Virginia shores scrambling for cover yet again. Less than a year ago Hurricane Florence, a storm of almost the same caliber as Dorian, resulted in 54 deaths and caused over 24 billion dollars in damage across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
