Volleyball: Ohio travels to division-leading Akron this weekend

Ohio will be on the road for the second weekend in a row as the Mid-American Conference play begins to ramp up. The Bobcats (10-7, 2-2 MAC) will travel to Akron, who has been the surprise of the season so far by beating Miami, Bowling Green and Ball State, Friday. After that match, Ohio will play at Buffalo Saturday.

Friday

At Akron (11-4, 4-0 MAC)

Match time: 7 p.m.

Notes

-Akron swept Miami in its last match.

-The Zips were projected to be last in the MAC East but are 4-0 in conference play.

-Akron allows just a .169 hitting percentage to its opponents, which is the second best in the MAC.

-Taylor Kuruzovich and Emily Weigand are second and third, respectively, in the conference in service aces.

-Akron is second in the MAC in service aces, behind Ohio. 

Saturday

At Buffalo (5-11, 1-3 MAC)

Match time: 6 p.m.

Notes

-Buffalo has lost in five sets four times this season.

-The Bulls are in the bottom three of the MAC in both hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage.

-Lexi Nordmann is second in the MAC with 59 blocks.

-Buffalo was swept by Miami and Bowling Green Oct. 4-5, respectively.
