The eyes of the college football world shifted toward coach Frank Solich and Ohio after its 66-24 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday.
Solich’s win gave him the record for the most all-time wins by a Mid-American Conference coach with 111 and plenty of fans, media members and those within the sport have sent their congrats via Twitter to the 75-year-old coach.
Urban Meyer, a three-time national championship coach at Ohio State and Florida, headlined the crowd of congratulatory remarks. Meyer’s first head coaching job was at Bowling Green from 2001-03.
Other remarks include from Ohio men’s basketball coach Jeff Boals, ESPN insider Phil Steele and ESPN college football analyst Dustin Fox, who all shared their praise for Solich.
Even the Omaha World-Herald had a story about Solich’s milestone. Before his time at Ohio, the 15-year coach spent six seasons at Nebraska where he was ultimately fired after posting a 9-3 finish.
