TV Review: Negan triumphantly returned as a villain on Sunday’s episode of ‘The Walking Dead’

After Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) escape in the last episode, viewers anxiously waited to see what would happen. Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead found Negan followed by a young boy who idolized him. The boy had helped him escape and even brought him his old leather jacket and re-designed Lucille for him.

As Negan escaped into Whisperer territory, it was revealed that Alpha (Samantha Morton) and the Whisperers have been behind the tricks played on the communities, including the walker horde and fallen tree. Her goal, she said, was to collapse the communities and have them join their ranks. However, her daughter is still inside Alexandria, making her true motives questionable.

Negan and his young follower discovered a woman and her son in the wilderness, who Negan quickly bonded with after the young boy reminded him of Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs). However, the young follower killed both the mother and her son because he believed it was what Negan wanted. In a fit of rage, Negan killed the follower, headed deeper into Whisperer territory to kill more walkers and stumbled upon Beta (Ryan Hurst). Now that Negan has officially met the Whisperers, viewers will be fascinated to see if he decides to team up with them or go back to the communities.

Elsewhere, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) revealed to Siddiq (Avi Nash) that he has thyroid cancer. With a lack of medical treatment, he won’t be able to survive the cancer as his father and grandmother did. With most deaths in The Walking Dead being from murderers or walkers, it’s very interesting to see someone be threatened by cancer.
