Women's Basketball: Numbers to know from Ohio's 79-72 loss at TCU

The Bobcats began their three-game road trip Sunday with a 79-72 loss at TCU. Ohio (6-3) came into the fourth quarter with a nine-point lead, but it wasn’t enough, as it struggled defensively against the Horned Frogs in the final quarter. It was also playing without one of its top scorers, Erica Johnson, who left against IUPUI because of an injury.

Here are some key numbers from the loss:

9 — The Bobcats scored just nine points in the fourth quarter while TCU scored 25. Ohio shot poorly and was 3-for-13 from the field — only making one of 10 three-point attempts. The Bobcats also had eight turnovers in the fourth quarter.

26 — Amani Burke scored a game-high 26 points for the Bobcats in the loss. Her production has become paramount as Ohio’s leading scorer in the absence of Johnson. Burke went 10-for-19 from the field and shot 36% from the 3-point line.

40 — Ohio shot 40% from the free throw line, its lowest total of the season. The Bobcats missed 12-of-20 free throw attempts in the seven-point loss. The poor shooting performance was uncharacteristic for Ohio. It entered Sunday’s game with three-straight games shooting over 70% from the line.

15 — Freshman Peyton Guice played 15 minutes for the Bobcats, her second highest play time of the year. The only time she played more was in a blowout win against Incarnate Word. Guice is one of the players tasked with replacing Johnson. She came off the bench and had one rebound and one assist in her 15 minutes of play.
