Athens man dies after shooting on West Washington Street

An Athens man died Sunday morning after he was shot on West Washington Street.

The Athens Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near 117 W. Washington Street at about 5:08 a.m. Floyd Victor Hart, 37, of Athens, was found at the scene with a gunshot wound. 

Athens County EMS was called and offered aid to Hart before he was transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital. Hart was pronounced dead at O’Bleness shortly after his arrival, according to an APD media release. 

The incident is still under investigation, according to the same release. Two suspects have been taken into custody by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department after they were found in Raleigh County, West Virginia.

Dylan Secoy, 26, of Albany, is charged with murder. Rachael Povosky, 18, is charged with complicity to murder. 

Both are being held in West Virginia until arrangements for them to be brought back to Athens County can be made.
