Twitter Reactions: Halsey, Marshmello’s ‘Be Kind’ provides an important message for fans

Halsey and Marshmello teamed up to release their new song “Be Kind,” and fans love it.

The song explores trust issues and reinforces the idea that it’s OK to be vulnerable with people you love, rather than holding your emotions in and trying to act tough. It shows the perspective of someone trying to get the person they love to open up and let them in. Though the person is understanding of the struggle, they’re still upset with the lack of trust and emotional availability, so they encourage the person they love to “be kind.”

The release of the song came with a lyric video, featuring bright animations to go with each line. Most of the animations look like a sketch or drawing, while some look like kaleidoscope visions.

“Be Kind” is quite simple overall. The melody line, background drum beats and chorus are similar to other tracks from both of these artists. “Be Kind” has even been compared to a happier and more uplifting version of Halsey’s “Without Me.” It’s the message of the song that makes it unique. Rather than closing off, Halsey is encouraging people to open up and be kind with the people they love.

There’s also the double meaning of being kind to others during this unprecedented time of the coronavirus pandemic, where people are encouraged to stay open and vulnerable in connecting with the ones they love rather than completely closing off.

Fans of Marshmello and Halsey were both thrilled with the release of “Be Kind” and have been streaming nonstop.
