High School Football: Athens itching for another win at Meigs

After last Friday’s game against Wellston was canceled, Athens is itching to get back on the field. It’ll have another shot when it travels to Pomeroy this week to face Meigs.

The Marauders, much like the Bulldogs, have lost their last two games. While Meigs is still ranked third in the TVC-Ohio, they are one loss away from being knocked down below Vinton County and the Bulldogs.

On the other hand, Athens is desperately trying to get its second win of the season. The season is nearly over and after Meigs, the Bulldogs will have to face a rising Nelsonville-York.

Friday will be a battle to see who can overturn their bad luck before the season ends. If Athens wins, it will be back to .500 and it’ll have some momentum before facing rival Nelsonville-York. If the Bulldogs lose, their outlook for October will get even darker.

Game information:

Opponent: Meigs High School

Venue: Meigs Field, Pomeroy, OH

Kickoff: 7:00 p.m.

How to listen: 970 WATH will have a broadcast for the game.

Notes:

  • Athens defeated Meigs last season 60-24
  • Meigs has not defeated Athens since 2008
