Student Senate holds its first general body meeting

Ohio University’s Student Senate held its first general body meeting on Wednesday. Last meeting, the executive board was sworn in. The executive board still has open positions that need to be filled, such as chief of staff and political director.

President Ian Carter asked for potential members to apply for these positions. Appointments will be held in the coming weeks, Carter said.

A resolution was passed for Soren Starkey to be appointed as an associate for the justice panel. The resolution was passed and is effected immediately. The judicial panel is also in need of an associate justice, Chief Justice Emeritus Walter Milhoan said.

OU Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Pina’s last official day at Ohio University will be Oct. 23, as he leaves for his new position at New York University as a chief strategy officer for Global Programs and University Life.

“[I’m] going to miss the people in Athens,” Pina said. “Ohio University will always be more than a job to me.”

One of Pina’s proudest moments is his work in the Survivor Advocacy Program. The program provides confidential support and advocacy services to student survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence and stalking.
