High School Football: Nelsonville-York is trying to avoid going 0-3 against Meigs

Nelsonville-York returns home Friday to play Meigs (2-0). The Buckeyes are still looking for their first win of the shortened season and the task will be tougher without one of their best players, Brandon Phillips.

One thing that Phillips provided that Nelsonville-York is yet to find is consistency. In week one, the offense flourished while the defense struggled, but week two was inverse. Senior quarterback Drew Carter has looked fantastic on some drives but has struggled mightily in the late stages of both games.

The Buckeyes will be looking for someone else to step up to help the struggling quarterback and can do it with a number of players such as Ethan Gail and Colton Snyder.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Game information and notes:

Opponent: Meigs (2-0)

Location: Boston Field

  • Nelsonville-York defeated Meigs 42-6 last season
  • Meigs hasn’t beaten the Buckeyes since 2015
  • The last time Nelsonville-York went 0-3 was in 2018
