Meet the Opponent

Tom Arth returns for his second season as head coach of the Akron Zips. Arth has yet to win a game as coach of the Zips, finishing the 2019 season without a win and most recently losing to Western Michigan in their season opener.

The Zips’ offense is led by redshirt freshman quarterback Zach Gibson. Last week against the Broncos Gibson went 18-for-30 with 125 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. While Gibson and his team gave its best, they were simply no match for Western Michigan losing 55-13.

All-time series

Ohio leads all time 22-13-1. The Zips last win against Ohio was in 2017, where Akron won 37-34 at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
