Ohio University’s head soccer coach, Aaron Rodgers, yells from the sidelines during the home game against Miami on March 4, 2021 in Athens, Ohio.

Soccer: Ohio kicks off its last pair of road games

Ohio needed to get it going against Bowling Green on Sunday, but a 3-0 loss has the team heading in the wrong direction. The Bobcats will look to snap their two-game losing streak and get things back on track in their last pair of away games versus Miami and Akron this weekend.

Here’s what you need to know looking ahead to this weekend:

Thursday

Opponent: Miami (3-3, 3-3 MAC)

Time: Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Location: Bobby Kramig Field (Oxford, Ohio)

-Miami is in the middle of the road at .500. The team's most recent loss was a 4-0 drubbing against Buffalo, a team it already lost to earlier in the season.

-The RedHawks lead the all-time record (15-11-2) versus Ohio and defeated the Bobcats 1-0 in their season opener.

Sunday

Opponent: Akron (1-4-1, 1-4-1 MAC)

Time: Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Location: FirstEnergy Stadium — Cub Cadet Field  (Akron, Ohio)

-Akron won its first game of the season Sunday 1-0 at home against Kent State.

-Since 2006, the series record is 8-4-3 between Ohio and Akron. The Bobcats defeated the Zips at home earlier in the season 3-0.

The Bobcats must figure out their strengths as a team and put them together in both games while looking for better outcomes. Ohio hasn’t been able to keep its momentum going. The MAC championship game isn’t completely out of sight, but Ohio must win both games this week to keep the dream alive.
