The Queen’s Gambit, a novel written by Walter Tevis in 1983 that became a Netflix hit, is now set to become a musical.
The plot centers around a woman who became one of the world’s greatest chess players. The miniseries made its debut Oct. 23, 2020, and secured over 62 million viewers within the first month. This impressive viewership made The Queen’s Gambit Netflix’s most-watched scripted miniseries. Actress Anya Taylor-Joy played the lead role, Beth Harmon. Taylor-Joy and the show won Golden Globes last month.
Level Forward won rights to adapt the novel, The Queen’s Gambit, as a musical. The creative team has yet to be announced.
