COVID-19 Level - (9/30) MEDIUM:

Netflix will gain 'Legally Blonde' and 'Leprechaun' in April; '17 Again' and 'The Great British Baking Show' will depart

April is here and spring is blossoming, bringing the vibrancy of life and new beginnings back into the world.  So, what better time to lock yourself up in your room and binge Netflix? To be honest, with the end of the semester and finals fast approaching, some needed downtime with the television may be more important than active recreation. Here’s the new (and some old) titles arriving on Netflix this month:

Worn Stories (April 1)

Worn Stories is a docu-series based on the book of the same name by Emily Spivack. Expect it to be good, as it’s being adapted by Jenji Kohan, who also adapted Orange is the New Black. This show is essentially the anti-Marie Kando; it’s a show about why we keep the clothes we do and the attachments we have to them. Watch this if you’re in the mood for something light.

Concrete Cowboy (April 2)

Concrete Cowboy is an indie-film darling that premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is now getting its international release through Netflix. It’s main hook is that it's a western meets inner-city tale about a community of horseback riders in Philadelphia. It’s unique because it mixes two locales/genres that are normally thought of as separate. It has a star studded cast featuring Idris Elba (Luther, The Wire) and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things).

Thunder Force (April 9)

Thunder Force is a superhero comedy romp featuring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer. A scientist accidentally imbues herself (Spencer) and an estranged childhood friend (McCarthy) with super powers creating the world’s first superhero duo, who now have to go out and fight a fierce crime gang known as the Miscreants. This movie will be good for popcorn fodder. It’s good to see Netflix producing movies with a focus on female leads, bringing some diversity to the platform.
