Softball: Ohio prepares for weekend series at Ball State

Ohio is entering the weekend on a high note, and it will need it for the series ahead. After sweeping Akron in a doubleheader Tuesday, Ohio is headed to Muncie, Indiana, this weekend to take on Ball State in a four-game series.

The Cardinals are sitting at second in the Mid-American Conference standings. They’ve only lost one game this season and are ahead of third-place Toledo by six games. Ohio will have a steep hill to climb if it wants to knock Ball State down a peg, especially since it’s 7-0 at home this season.

Here’s what you need to know to follow along with Ohio this weekend:

Ohio and Ball State haven’t faced off against each other since the 2019 MAC Tournament. Ohio won the first-round game 3-2 in extra innings, after a walk-off single by then-second baseman Charlee Pond brought home Katie Yun.

In the regular season, the two haven’t faced off since April 2017, when the Cardinals took two in a three-game series.
