Volleyball: What to know for Ohio's trip to Buffalo

Ohio (2-15, 2-4 Mid-American Conference) has a long trip to Buffalo, New York, ahead of itself this weekend. It will play against Buffalo (9-10, 2-5 MAC) in a two-match series this weekend.

Time: 6:00 p.m. Friday and 4:00 p.m. Saturday

History

The Bobcats last faced the Bulls on Feb. 12 in The Convo, and earned an easy 3-0 victory. Since 2010, the Bobcats have a 16-4 record against the Bulls. Their last trip to Buffalo ended in a 3-2 win and their record while on the road since 2010 is 6-3. 

In the win back in February, Ohio swept Buffalo in three straight sets. This has happened 12 times since 2010. 

Things to note

  • Both Ohio and Buffalo have faced Duquesne this season. Ohio defeated Duquesne 3-1 in an exhibition match and Buffalo swept it 3-0 at the WNY Invite.
  • The Bulls are currently on a five-match losing streak and are only one match behind the Bobcats in the MAC East standings. This weekend’s series will determine whether Ohio stays in fourth place in the division or moves down. 

Players to Watch

Buffalo: Mandy Leigh

Leigh leads the Bulls in assists and service aces. Her 714 assists in 73 sets make her sixth in the MAC for average assists per set. With 20 service aces, Leigh has seven more than the Bobcats’ leader, Maggie Nedoma, who has 13.  

Ohio: Olivia Margolies 

Margolies has been on the climb this season. She has shown steady improvement and ranked in the top five for kills in all but one match this season. Her 143 kills is the third-most on the Bobcats roster.
