OU passes vaccination deadline with over 80% total vaccination rate

Ohio University President Hugh Sherman announced in an email Tuesday that OU’s Athens campus had reached an 88.6% vaccination rate for students, faculty and staff.

The information comes on the heels of the Nov. 15 deadline for vaccination against COVID-19.

Including regional campuses, OU’s total vaccination rate for faculty, students and staff is 83.6%. The regional campus rate of vaccination is between 53% to 63.2%.

As of Tuesday, only 9% of faculty, staff and students have not yet submitted an approved exemption or provided proof of vaccination.

“We know that, for a variety of reasons, some people are still in the process of meeting the vaccination requirement, and there is a small number of people we have not heard from,” Sherman wrote in the email.

The university COVID-19 Dashboard will continue to be updated as numbers change across campuses.
