12-3-30 Workout: I did it every day for a week and this is what happened

If you have stepped foot into any gym in the past year or so, you have probably seen the treadmills full of people walking at an intense incline.

This is most likely because of Lauren Giraldo’s workout called the “12-3-30” that blew up on TikTok.

Lauren Giraldo is a social media personality who became famous on Vine. Now, she is known for her 12-3-30 workout.

The 12-3-30 stands for walking on the treadmill at an incline of 12 with a speed of 3.0 for 30 minutes.

Giraldo said that the workout helped her lose 30 pounds. In her TikTok video, she said “I don’t diet, I don’t calorie count” and that it’s the only workout she does.

Since this video was posted, Giraldo has said in an interview with TODAY that this workout made her feel less intimidated by the gym and that she sometimes incorporates weightlifting into her workout routine now as well.

After watching her video, I was intrigued by this workout. My workout routine consists primarily of weightlifting and about 15 minutes of running and walking, but I thought I would change it up for a week and try the 12-3-30.

On the first day, I was incredibly humbled by this workout. I could barely even make it for 10 minutes and I had to lower the incline.

I found it very difficult to not hold onto the handlebars of the treadmill. As much as I wanted to, this would lessen the resistance of the incline and make it less effective. This is when I had to lower the incline instead.

For the next couple of days, I would try to start with the 12 incline for as long as I could, and lower it if needed.

As the week went on, it became easier for me to do the correct incline and speed.

Only on the last day was I actually able to do the official 12-3-30. It was a great feeling to finally accomplish my goal.

When I am doing cardio, I find myself not pushing myself hard enough and quitting early. One trick that has helped me do cardio exercises for a longer amount of time is to watch a TV show or movie on my phone.

When I’m distracted by the show or movie, I find it much easier to stay on the treadmill longer.

As for appearances, I didn’t notice any changes, but I didn’t expect to. When doing any new workout, you probably won’t notice any physical changes in just one week. Consistency is key.

However, I still felt a change. I wasn’t able to complete this workout at the beginning week, but I noticed that it became easier as the week went on.

Overall, I think that this is a great cardio workout. Starting on the treadmill is a great way to begin at the gym if you are feeling intimidated, as was the case for Giraldo.

I am planning on incorporating this into my workout routine, and I would recommend it to others to try as well.
