Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine appointed a new representative to the Ohio University Board of Trustees on Monday.

Nancy Drake Hammond has earned a bachelor’s degree in history from OU as well as a law degree from Ohio State University. Following her degrees, she served as the Fayette County Common Pleas Court judge, working in both the probate and juvenile divisions from 1991 to 2011.

Hammond has also served as chair of the Board of Commissioners on character and fitness for the Supreme Court of Ohio, as civil law director for the city of Washington Court House Ohio and as a visiting judge in the Fayette County Common Pleas Court general and domestic relations divisions.

“I am excited to welcome Nancy Drake Hammond to the Board of Trustees,” Board Chair Peggy Viehweger said in an OU press release. “Her extensive experience in the legal world and the judiciary will be very helpful in her role as a trustee and I look forward to working with her.”

Hammond’s position was previously held by Dave Scholl. She began on May 6 and will serve until May 13, 2030.
