Fresh Finds Friday: Blink-182 returns after hiatus; Kx5 teams up with The Moth & Flame on “Alive”

As week nine ends, Bobcats could use some new and fresh tunes. This past week, girl in red, Blink-182 and others have dropped new music.

We created a playlist of new songs that are perfect for walking to class, working out at the gym, sitting around in your dorm or cranking out those last-minute papers. Here are five new songs to get you through the week:

“October Passed Me By” by girl in red

Singer/songwriter girl in red started as a project in September 2017 and has released songs such as "We Fell in Love in October," which now has a sequel -- "October Passed Me By." The song uses this musical palette of an autumn day. "October Passed Me By is where I'm at today, emotionally and musically. I thought it was way cooler to expand we fell in love in October universe artistically into the black hole of content that is TikTok," girl in red said about the song in a Stereogum interview.

“SHE SAID HE SAID SHE SAID" by Joshua Bassett

You may know Joshua Bassett as a cast member of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series." Following "Would You Love Me Now," Bassett released another song last Friday, titled "SHE SAID HE SAID SHE SAID." Its groovy bassline makes this perfect for the dance floor. Lyrics, "I found myself ungodly hours, rarely keeping up with songs. So the new music felt urgent to put out.” The new song “SHE SAID HE SAID SHE SAID,” deals with the feelings of a young relationship from long-lost love to broken promises," Bassett said in a Rolling Stone interview.

“TRUCK BED” by HARDY

Announcing his new album, “Mockingbird & the Crow,” Country singer HARDY released some singles off the upcoming record, including “TRUCKBED.” This isn’t your typical country record as it infuses rock n’ roll-like melodies and guitars telling the story of waking up on the wrong side of the bed, in this case, a truck bed, after drinking a little too much. lyrics: HARDY’s album “Mockingbird & the Crow” is expected to release on Jan. 20.

“Alive” by Kx5, deadmau5, The Moth & The Flame

Kx5 is the frequent collaboration duo of Kaskade and Deadmau5. This time, they've teamed up with alternative rock band The Moth & The Flame for their latest banger, "Alive." The track takes on familiar yet futuristic synths but keeps the progressively old-school vibe that both Kaskade and Deadmau5 have within their music while opening doors to experiment with other ideas. While Kx5's existence has only been known since earlier this year, The duo doesn't shy away from progressively experimenting with new ways to shock the EDM world.

“EDGING” by Blink-182

Since 1992, Blink-182 has been rocking and rolling on the world stage with various successful songs such as "First Date" and "All the Small Things" and has returned with their single "Edging," this time with founding member, Tom DeLonge who was not with the band when they released their last album, "Nine," in 2019. "I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience. At the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say," said Barker in a statement to Uproxx
