Baseball: What to know for Western Kentucky

Ohio is slated to take on Western Kentucky in a four-game away series this weekend.  

The Bobcats (1-2) had a rough showing last weekend at the Hughes Bros. Challenge but ended the weekend on a high note with a 27-9 win over Navy.

Western Kentucky had a hot start to its season with a three-game sweep of Dayton last weekend and a midweek victory over Belmont this past Tuesday.

Ohio’s last matchup with Western Kentucky was in 2017 when the Bobcats took two games during a three-game series. Before 2017, the Bobcats and the Hilltoppers had only faced off one other time in 2006. The lifetime series between the two teams is currently split 3-3. 

Player to Watch:

Alec Patino — The junior infielder is the reigning MAC Player of the Week after an outstanding performance at the Hughes Bros. Challenge. Patino leads the Bobcat offense in nearly every major statistical category with a .583 batting average, seven hits and a 1.625 OPS.
