Following its success at last weekend's Cherry Blossom Invitational, Ohio continued its season in Columbus, competing in several events. The 1500-meter, 5000-meter and 3000-meter steeplechase were the most impressive events for the team this weekend.
The 1500-meter race has been and continues to be one of the team's most impressive events this season. Alyssa Mason has run in this event during the spring season and has placed multiple times. This weekend, she came in first for the Bobcats and placed tenth in the event with a time of 4 minutes, 37.11 seconds. Stephanie Pierce has also run this event consistently this season and followed Mason in twelfth place at 4 minutes, 37.29 seconds. Theresa Hagey, Kelsi Harris, Alyssa Christian and Sara Doughman also competed in the 1500-meter.
Pierce and Doughman also competed in the 800-meter. Pierce took fifth with 2 minutes, 14.02 seconds and Doughman followed with 2 minutes, 17.39 seconds.
Five Bobcats competed in the 5000-meter race this weekend. Madelyn Bartolone led Ohio and finished 13th with a time of 17 minutes, 29.01 seconds. Bailey Roberts and Avril Moyer finished with times of 18 minutes, 30.98 seconds and 18 minutes, 32.79 seconds, respectively.
The 3000-meter steeplechase was another great event for Ohio this weekend. Carina Weaver, Kenna Loveless and Jenna Razavi competed in this event, and all three placed in the top ten. Weaver finished with an impressive time of 10 minutes, 58.62 seconds, which landed her in third place. Loveless finished behind her in seventh at 11 minutes, 22.86 seconds and Razavi came in ninth at 11 minutes, 46.28 seconds. All three runners have steadily improved their times over the course of this season.
The Bobcats will travel to compete in the Drake Relays next weekend.
