TV Review: ‘Ahsoka’ Part Seven is sludge

This review may contain spoilers

After the last episode, it was hard to imagine that there could be any more bad episodes. There’s only two more left, and the plot has to move forward now, right? Well, that would be absolutely wrong, somehow the second-to-last episode of a limited series show is complete filler.

It’s so insulting because the episode is 45 minutes long, but could be 10 if Dave Filoni wasn’t trying to fill in time. But don’t feel bad for him, he’s only a terrible writer who is responsible for a $200 million dollar show. Part Seven, titled “Dreams and Madness,” is probably the second worst episode in the show so far, which is impressive considering all of them have been bad. But this episode is bad for a multitude of reasons, but to explain why, we need to go into the episode.

We begin with a New Republic court case that makes no sense. They want to remove Hera from service and all that gets said is “I’m trying to stop another war” and a senator saying “I don’t believe you” over and over again. This same conversation has been going on for quite literally three episodes now, with the same lines and the same arguments.

When the court case is proceeding, C-3PO randomly shows up. Cameos have been in multiple of the Filoni and Favreau shows, with people like Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka, Boba Fett and R2-D2 making random appearances that don’t move the plot forward and only serve to have the audience go “Oh my God, it’s that thing I remember!” This episode is the one where cameos are literally thrown at the audience for no reason. C-3PO comes out of nowhere at the beginning of the episode, and all he does is say Leia’s name and cancel the court case.

Meanwhile, we are with Sabine and Ezra, two terrible actors and characters giving boring dialogue. These two actors are absolutely terrible, they have no character, they don’t emote and they clearly are there for the paycheck. Sabine and Ezra in this episode literally just travel around on slow giant bugs, it’s absolutely boring and lasts for 20 minutes in this episode, which is great.

The other part of this episode is just Ahsoka arriving on the planet and meeting up with Sabine and Ezra. She gets chased by starfighters that shoot her ship multiple times and literally do nothing to damage it. That’s what the entire episode is. It’s very bad.

“Ahsoka” has been a terrible show so far. The writing has been nothing short of pathetic, characters will say bland and basic things to each other and then pause for five seconds. Rinse and repeat, add in two action scenes and that’s a full episode of this show.

With the final episode coming up, there’s absolutely no faith left in this show. While there are many things that need to be wrapped up, what will happen, like always, is a short 30-minute episode where they fight and escape. This show, like the other ones, won’t be remembered, and while there is a ton of talk about it now, it will be forgotten in two weeks' time.
