Police Blotter: Stickers stuck at Alden Library, money stolen in Sargent Hall

Everybody’s business

A caller stated she was threatened over Facebook, and it was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

The Facebook post was then taken down, and a report was taken.

Certified menace

An offense of menacing in Brown Hall was reported to the Ohio University Police Department.

An individual was charged with menacing by OUPD.

A caller stated a family member was using their credit card without consent, and it was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies filed a report, and no charges were made.

Respect The Ridges

An instance of destruction of property done at The Ridges was reported to the Ohio University Police Department.

A report was filed for damage done to an outdoor electrical outlet. 

Identity theft is not a joke!

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies spoke with a man regarding a possible identity theft incident.

Deputies filed a report and referred the man to the FBI Identity Fraud Division.

You ruined my workout, bro

A theft at Ping Recreation Center was reported to the Ohio University Police Department.

OUPD took a report of the theft of a backpack but noted there was no evidence supporting this crime.

Detour

The Ohio State Highway Patrol requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office for a driver going the wrong way on U.S. Route 50 in Guysville.

The driver was located and stopped without any issues. The Ohio State Highway Patrol handled the rest of the incident.

An offense of criminal mischief in Alden Library was reported to the Ohio University Police Department.

Stickers placed on a wall were filed as destruction of property.

Classic mix-up

A man with a gun on Fourth Street in The Plains was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. 

Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller and determined where the individuals with weapons were located. Deputies found two males and confirmed that the guns were BB guns

Officers then advised them about firearm safety and told the individuals to not shoot toward businesses. Deputies returned to patrol.

Get a Ring doorbell

A theft in Sargent Hall was reported to the Ohio University Police Department.

An unknown individual entered a room and took money from a wallet, according to OUPD. 

I swore this was my house…

A possible burglary in progress in Jacksonville was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Once deputies arrived, it was found that intoxicated individuals approached the wrong address by mistake. 

The men were given rides back home. No further assistance was necessary.

Expiration date

A traffic stop on W. Green Dr. was conducted by OUPD. 

An individual was charged with operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Gun ghost

A lost firearm was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies filed a report and entered the firearm into LEADS/NCIC.
