Appalachian State Notes

Appalachian State is entering its season trying to improve from a down year last season, similar to Ohio. The Mountaineers went 11-20 in their previous season but were able to win a game in the Sun Belt Tournament, beating No. 7 Lousiana. Appalachian State wants to avoid a loss to Ohio to keep its winning ways going.

The team is led by experience in the starting five, with four out of the five probable starters being juniors and seniors. The Mountaineers took care of business against in-state opponent UNC Greensboro in its season opener beating UNCG 71-65.

Player to watch: Taylor Lewis

Lewis is one of the team’s most experienced players, playing her fifth year of college basketball. She led the team in both blocks and steals in the team’s opener against UNCG. She also grabbed 10 rebounds against UNCG good enough to tie for the team lead in that stat as well. Look out for Lewis to be a pest on the boards and the defensive side of the ball against Ohio.
