Longwood Notes

Similarly to Ohio, Longwood is coming off of a disappointing season the previous year. The two teams faced off last season and Longwood got the 66-65 win. This year, the Lancers have gotten off to the same slow start they did last year, as they are currently sitting at 1-4. Longwood still has plenty of games before it starts Big South play, but lopsided losses to Clemson, James Madison and Delaware have not been ideal.

Longwood got its only win against Division II school Chowan University, and with Ohio being 2-0 at home so far this season, Longwood will have its work cut out for itself to bounce back.

Player to Watch

Senior guard Janay Turner is Longwood’s offensive hub. Her scoring abilities have been key to any offensive success Longwood has had this season. She is not only the team's leading scorer, she is also the most efficient, leading the Lancers in field goal and 3-point percentage. While she missed out on the preseason all-Big South teams, she has ensured her presence is being felt so far for Longwood this season.
