Darn it, Daniel: What I do, don’t like about Fortnite OG

As you all know, I have been sick recently. For those of you wondering, no, I am no longer sick, and thank you for the support while I was under the weather and allergic to my dorm. While I was sick, I had a lot of free time, during which I cranked some 90s in the classic video game Fortnite Battle Royale. So, today I will deliver to you my thoughts and feelings toward Fortnite and the Fortnite OG update.

First things first, we all love and appreciate them bringing back 2018 Fortnite, but before the update, there were features of the game that simply made it easier.

For example, my favorite feature is after you die in a game, the screen would say "Ready Up, Report Player, and Return To Lobby." With the update, the ready-up option was removed. Now, I have to hit "Leave Game" and wait two minutes for the loading screen until I get to the lobby. Then, I have to hit "Ready" and wait an additional two minutes to find a game and watch another loading screen.

Before the update, I could just hit "Ready Up," wait two minutes and go to the next game. To the developers at Fortnite, I get you were making it to fit the original version of the game, but the "Ready Up, Report Player, and Return To Lobby" feature made it easier to play the game. I could play 10 games rather than seven games, which isn't a huge difference, but it is to me when I'm trying to crank out as many 90s as possible.

It appears Epic Games' current plan is to remove the OG Fortnite game mode in approximately nine days. OG Fortnite boosted the amount of players, so if the update is removed, Epic Games is going to lose a lot of gamers' attention.

Here are a few options they can take. The first option would be to make OG Fortnite a permanent game mode. There could still be a new map, but just like how there is currently a No-Builds mode and Builds mode, there could be an OG map No-Builds and Build and Current Map No-Builds and Builds. This keeps the player base but allows them to continue their story and evolve their game.

The alternative, and the one Epic Games seems to be preparing to do, is taking a note out of Marvel's style and implementing a multiverse concept that would include the current OG map and only certain parts of it changing as if there is something coming from an alternate dimension. This would allow the player to continue to advance their game while keeping the OG update fans happy.

They are calling this event the Big Bang, so maybe everything players have stated they love the most out of all the years will crash together and create something new and fun while keeping similar mechanics and basic weapons that we all know and love.

What are your thoughts on OG Fortnite? Should Darn it, Daniel become a Fortnite content creator?
