Statistically speaking, Miami owns one of the worst offenses in the entire NCAA. They rank 337th out of 360 teams in points per game at 52.5 a contest. The team boasts just one double-digit point per game scorer, while none of its players have been able to convert on half of their shots or better.
Its 3-point shooting has been a major crux in this. Miami lacks the high-volume and high-percentage shooters that are essential to a well-oiled offensive machine. Their hottest shooter, Hennessey Luu-Brown has only taken 19 3-pointers on the year, while nobody else projected to play against the Bobcats is above 31% from the three on the season.
None of this is aided by Miami’s size, as it is relatively undersized in comparison to the teams Ohio has matched up against recently. Leading scorer Jadyn Scott prefers to get to her offense in the post, an area in which Ohio has excelled at defending as of late. The Redhawks’ lack of shooting should allow the Bobcats to send extra defensive help, forcing their opponent to play to their weaknesses.
Player to Watch: Amber Tretter
Tretter has been a freshman sensation for the Redhawks, standing at 6 feet, 1 inch, she’s been impactful for the team in many facets. She ranks top five in all five major stat categories for Miami and leads the team in double-doubles with two. Her activity on the glass and the defensive end has been great, and keeping her from wreaking havoc in those areas will be integral for the Bobcats if they want to push their winning streak to three.
