What are the Human Interest staff’s favorite coffee places in Athens, and what are their go-to orders?
“My favorite coffee shop in Athens is Donkey Coffee because of the cozy and welcoming atmosphere,” Gina Napoli, a junior studying journalism, said. “I love going to Donkey to study with my friends and hang out. My go-to order is an iced matcha latte with almond milk. Donkey has the best matcha, in my opinion!”
“Court Street Coffee is my favorite because it’s in a good location and is usually pretty quick with its service,” Maia LeClair, a senior studying journalism, said. “My go-to order is usually a medium iced latte.”
Fiona Petticrew, a sophomore studying communications, said Donkey is also her favorite coffee place in Athens. “They have the best vibes and music by far, and I love their power chai,” she said. “It’s so yummy! Plus, the shot of espresso helps me get stuff done!”
“As a non-coffee drinker, my favorite place in Athens is Front Room,” Madison Peters, a freshman studying journalism, said. “They have amazing options in their bakery and other drinks to choose from if you are not into coffee like me. My go-to order is the blueberry muffin.”
“My favorite coffee shop in town is Brenen’s,” Ethan Herx, a junior studying photojournalism, said. “It’s one of the more affordable and has the overall best-tasting drinks and food. My typical order is either a hot vanilla latte or a dark roast coffee with cream. I also really enjoy their blueberry muffins and cherry turnovers.”
“My favorite is Donkey Coffee,” Shyann Morrow, a junior journalism and pre-law student, said. “My go-to order is a dirty chai latte with oat milk: hot in the fall and winter and iced in the spring and summer.”
Caitlyn Vance, a sophomore studying journalism, also favors Brenen’s. “I do not like coffee, but I think that Brenen’s has a lovely environment that is perfect for studying and hanging out,” she said. “I typically get a strawberry chiller or a frozen lemonade!”
“I love Donkey’s matcha,” Mary Kate McNamee, a senior studying English with a minor in history, said. “Court Street Coffee is good if you are craving sugary diabetes in a cup of coffee, and Front Room is convenient. It will either be the best coffee ever or just mid.”
