Ohio handled business in the Frisco Bowl, defeating UNLV 17-10. After the game, many fans may noticed many of the Bobcats standing right behind John Hauser to support the first-time head coach, with many lobbying for his new position to be permanent. The program agreed and has officially dropped the interim tag, naming Hauser its new head coach moving forward.
Hauser played football at Wittenberg College in 2002 and has never stepped away from the game since. He spent his first year coaching at Wittenberg but has really found his home in the Mid-American Conference. He spent the past decade within the conference, coaching at Miami (OH) from 2014-21 before heading to Athens, where he has spent the last four seasons.
In Oxford, Hauser was the defensive backs coach for all eight seasons, as well as the co-defensive coordinator for six of them. Hauser is no stranger to success and has coached a handful of players who have gone on to be drafted to an NFL franchise, plus he has helped his players take home some All-MAC honors under his guidance.
Hauser then made his way to Ohio, and the success followed. He has continued to have players rack up All-MAC awards, while the Bobcats have found a new level of success as a program. Since his arrival, the program has two 10-win seasons, and if Tuesday's Bowl win was any indication, these players have bought into Hauser as their coach and the winning ways should continue with him at the helm.
