Ohio (8-31 overall, 5-16 Mid-American Conference) is finally back at Bob Wren Stadium on Tuesday for a game against the visiting Northern Kentucky Norse (16-22 overall, 6-9 Horizon).
Since April 7, the Bobcats have been on the road and have collected two wins and six losses. They faced opponents such as the Morehead State Eagles, Miami RedHawks, Central Michigan Chippewas and the Norse on their home field. That game resulted in Ohio losing 11-8 to Northern Kentucky.
In that particular contest, the Norse came out hot with the bats in the first inning by scoring six runs to the Bobcats’ zero. Ohio made the game competitive later on in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring six runs too. However, Northern Kentucky’s offense was just too good for Ohio to possibly come away with a victory.
Historically, the all-time series between these two teams is lop-sided to say the least. In their last six matchups, the Norse have come away with a win every single time. The Bobcats came close to winning some of these aside from two instances.
Ohio is on a one-game winning streak after winning its final game against the Chippewas on April 18, and Northern Kentucky is currently experiencing a three-game losing streak. It was previously swept by the Milwaukee Panthers while on the road.

Looking at Northern Kentucky
The Norse are right in the middle of the pack when it comes to their conference. Although they are behind the Panthers and rival school Wright State University, they have been lighting up the Horizon League with certain parts of their offense.
They lead with the most RBI’s at 242 , runs at 266 and are second to Wright State in hits at 327. One important thing to point out is that Northern Kentucky struggled on the road this season. Considering how close the last game was, it’s possible the Bobcats could come away with an at-home win.
Looking at Ohio
A victory at Bob Wren Stadium would be wonderful in light of how poor this season has been for Ohio. It is dead last in the MAC, and is 1-11 at home while being 6-17 away in conference matchups.
This team needs a reset once the season concludes. While the Bobcats show flashes of quality baseball, they are struggling and not just within the MAC. They are among the lowest-ranked teams in the country. Their chances of winning this game are slim.
