Coming off its week three victory over South Gallia, the Trimble Tomcats will look to even out their record, which currently sits at 1-2, in a road matchup with Coal Grove Friday.

The Tomcats opened up with a subpar opening quarter last week — they fumbled on three of their first five plays from scrimmage.

“We work on fumbles by telling them not to,” coach Phil Faires joked, on how the Tomcats are going about eliminating the issue.

Trimble came back, though, taking control with strong defensive stands down the stretch en route to an 18-14 victory.

The loss bumped the Rebels to a 2-1 record on the year.

Coach Phil Faires went on the record saying, in other words, that his team could not emulate their previous performance if they want to make it back to .500.

Coal Grove is coming off of its second straight loss, a 33-14 humbling at the hands of Valley. Their only win of the young season came against Meigs in the season opener, a breezy 43-7 victory.

Last season the Hornets took the Trimble easily by a score of 49-12 on its own turf; a notch in the win column towards an 8-3 season.
