The Lindenwood Lions won their third Central States Collegiate Hockey League regular-season championship over the weekend with 9-2 and 4-0 wins over Kent State.

The wins put Lindenwood on 57 points in the league standings, while second-placed Ohio remains at 42 with only six points left to earn in games Feb. 10 and 11 versus Kent. The regular-season CSCHL title not only gives the Lions a first-round bye in the league tournament, but also an automatic bid into March’s American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament.

With one win over Kent the Bobcats will clinch third-place, while two wins against the Golden Flashes will clinch second-place for Ohio.

The only team that can jump over Ohio for second is Robert Morris, which has 30 points with four games, and 18 points, left to earn. The Eagles will have to sweep both of their remaining CSCHL series against Illinois and Indiana and hope Ohio loses one of its games to Kent.

The league tournament will be held Feb. 17-19 in Athens.
