The Ohio men’s and women’s golf teams each saw action Monday while the men’s team was beginning the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate and the women were wrapping up the Claud Jacobs Challenge.

The women’s team finished in 13th place overall with a team score of 985.

Monday’s result was an improvement form Ohio’s 16th-place first-round finish.

Ohio cut 22 strokes off its total score in the second and third rounds to finish the tournament and move up three slots on the leader board.

The Bobcats were led by senior Meryl Weaver, who finished in a three-way tie for 19th place.

Monday marked the sixth time Weaver has finished in the top 20 during her career. Ohio shot its best score on the third round, posting a team score of 320.

The women’s team returns to the course Apr. 9 when they will participate in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Arizona.

The men wrapped up the first round of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.

Ohio finished the first day of competition in 14th place, with a team score of 622.

The first round of the tournament consisted of 36 holes and was broken up into a morning and afternoon session.

Senior Paul Grauer shot a 150 through the opening two rounds to lead the Bobcats.

Grauer is currently tied for the 12th best individual score of the match.  

Junior Michael Lamping was not far behind, carding a 155 on the day.

Lamping dropped nine strokes from the morning and the afternoon.  Ohio coach Bob Cooley said he saw improvement from the morning to the afternoon. 

As a team, Ohio shot a 319 in the morning, but improved to 303 in the afternoon. The second day will consist of 18 holes and will take place Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
