Tragedy struck close to home for former Ohio volleyball player Bailey Karst Thursday in her hometown of Aurora, Co., when 12 died of gunshot wounds and many were injured inside an Aurora movie theater at a midnight showing of the "Dark Knight Rises."

Karst was a 2011 graduate of Eaglecrest High School, which is located only 10 miles away from the site of the shooting.

In 2011, her only season as a Bobcat, Karst started all but three of the teams' matches and led the Bobcats in with 1005 assists — four times as many as the second-highest contributor. She also added 115 sets and 59 kills.

Karst has since transferred to the University of Denver and refused The Post's request for comment.
