After leading her team to straight-set sweeps of both Kent State and Eastern Michigan this past weekend, freshman libero Meredith Ashy was awarded the Mid-American Conference East defensive player of the week.

Ashy finished both matches as the team leader in digs with 20 and 21, respectively. She also leads the team on the season in digs with 254, which is 74 more than the next leader.

The freshman also ranks fifth in the MAC individually with her average of 4.70 digs per match.

Ashy is the third Bobcat to receive weekly honors from the MAC, as sophomore outside hitter Kelly Lamberti has won offensive player of the week twice, while sophomore middle blocker Serena Warner received defensive honors once.

The Bobcats will play two more matches at The Convo this weekend against Akron and Buffalo.
