As Ohio is off to its best start since 1994, the Bobcats also continue to earn Mid-American Conference weekly accolades.

Freshman pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey was named the MAC East pitcher of the week Tuesday, following a pair of victories and 14 strikeouts in the 2013 Easton Desert Classic.

Dorsey (4-1) pitched just 12.1 innings in three appearances, but finished with a 3.97 ERA. Her most dominant performance came against the University of Louisiana-Monroe Sunday, where Dorsey struck out five batters and allowed just one hit in three innings.

She leads all Ohio pitchers in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA in six appearances in the Bobcats’ first nine games played.

Dorsey was the second Bobcat to receive MAC accolades, as senior catcher Lauren Gellerman was named the MAC East player of the week last week.

Ohio (7-2) will be back in action this weekend, as the Bobcats will play five games in the UTC Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.
