For the fifth time this season, a member of the Ohio softball team received Mid-American Conference weekly accolades.

Senior catcher Lauren Gellerman was named the MAC East player of the week for the second time this season Tuesday afternoon. During the Bobcats’ five games in Seattle, Wash. last week, Gellerman batted .571, as she drove in five runs and recorded eight hits — including three home runs.

With 30 career home runs, she holds the program record for long balls. However, her eight this season is second on the team, behind fellow senior Caitlin Colvin with nine.

Ohio was scheduled to play a doubleheader at Dayton Wednesday, but poor field conditions forced the games to be rescheduled for Friday. The Bobcats have yet to play in the Buckeye State this season.
