Running from one success to the next one, Juli Accurso is not only unstoppable on the track but also in receiving awards.

After earning the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic award in the end of February, she was awarded the Mid-American Conference Track and Field Athlete of the week yesterday.

The award comes just three days after she broke the Ohio record in the 5000-meter event at the Wake Forrest Open in a time of 16:21.56 minutes. The junior circled the track by herself for the greater part of the race and crossed the finish line 46 seconds before anybody else did.

As of right now, Accurso’s time ranks first in the eastern region and should secure her an invitation to the regional championship in Greensboro, N.C., in the end of May.

In addition Accurso won the 3000-meter race at the MAC championship meet and has qualified for the NCAA cross country championships in the fall.
